If his hands or wrists' hurt then it could be carpal tunnel syndrome

I have gamed excessively and i started to get it so took about a 4-5 day break and just rubbed the spot where it hurt.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful progressive condition caused by compression of a key nerve in the wrist. It occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. Symptoms usually start gradually, with pain, weakness, or numbness in the hand and wrist, radiating up the arm. As symptoms worsen, people might feel tingling during the day, and decreased grip strength may make it difficult to form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks. In some cases no direct cause of the syndrome can be identified. Most likely the disorder is due to a congenital predisposition - the carpal tunnel is simply smaller in some people than in others. However, the risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome is especially common in those performing assembly line work.Help my adult son is on the computer 16 hours or more. He is a gamer and is locked in fearse battle the whole?i am on the computer way to much as it seems he is. maybe he needs to just take breaks and slow down and relax after a bit. my hands start to hurt from typing alot and i take a break and its better, but if its that bad, you might want to get it checked out with his hands and wrists..

some of the others meantioned carpel tunnel, my grandma had that and it hurt her to hold stuff she got surgery and its much better but she still cant use her hands like the used to
It sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome, he should take a 15 minute break after an hour of play. He also should make sure his hands are elevated correctly. This can lead to serious problems, that require surgery to fix. Look up carpal tunnel syndrome for more info.Help my adult son is on the computer 16 hours or more. Thats completely ridiculous.Help my adult son is on the computer 16 hours or more. He is a gamer and is locked in fearse battle the whole?
i would almost bet that its from holding the mouse/keyboard with his wrists on the edge of the table, cutting of circulation for that long will cause your hands to go crazy
Only 16 hours....my Son and I practically live on ours......it's not unusual even though it's not a good idea......sorta becomes an adiction if you get what I mean.!Help my adult son is on the computer 16 hours or more. He is a gamer and is locked in fearse battle the whole?
How old is your son? I think I'd yank out his computer and make him have a LIFE. He probably has carpal tunnel syndrome.
sounds to me he needs to put the computer to rest.
I would go into the basement and shut off the electric to his room. He is harming himself.
pull the plug
how old is your son ? why isnt he at school or got a job ?
errrm why is this in pain?
I was just interviewed for an article about online game addiction. http://timespublications.com/apr08-featu…

It is a HORRIBLE addiction that can even lead to death and MANY MANY people have commited suicide either while playing or because the game was taken away from them after they lose their jobs and can't pay for it anymore. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE!

Video game addiction, also called video game overuse, is a proposed form of psychological addiction[1] composed of a compulsive use of computer and video games. While game critics may praise a game as "addictive", this article shall focus only on the perceived negative consequences of the phenomenon.

Most notable are massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), and related to the also-debated Internet addiction disorder. Instances have been reported in which users play compulsively, isolating themselves from social contact and focusing almost entirely on in-game achievements rather than life events.[2][3]

Treatment:

Some countries, like South Korea, have responded to the perceived threat of video game addiction by opening treatment centers.[13] The Chinese government operates several clinics to treat those addicted to online games, chatting and web surfing. Treatment for the patients, most of whom have been forced to attend by parents or government officials, include various forms of pain, or uneasiness.[21][22]

China also introduced an anti-online gaming addiction system in 2005 intended to reduce addiction by diminishing in-game rewards after three hours of play.[23] In 2006, the system was altered so that users over 18 did not face the limitations.[24] Reports indicate underage gamers are finding ways to circumvent the measure.[25]

In June of 2006, the Smith and Jones clinic in Amsterdam became the first treatment facility in Europe to offer a residential treatment program for compulsive gamers.[26] McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts has set up Computer Addiction Services. Elsewhere, gamers may seek services at generalized addiction support centers. At one such center in Richmond, Canada, excessive gaming accounts for 80% of one youth counselor's caseload.[27]

★★★★★ Deaths: ★★★★★

There have been three well-documented deaths caused directly by exhaustion from playing games for long periods. In South Korea, Lee Seung Seop died after playing Starcraft for over 50 hours. [28] [29] In Jinzhou, China, Xu Yan died after playing online games for over 15 days during the Lunar New Year holiday [30] and an unnamed 30 year-old died in Guangzhou, China after playing for 3 days straight.
