With a budget of $2000 what is the best computer available for a gamer?

For $2000, I'd really suggest you wait until Intel's Sandy Bridge comes out. By then, the new Northern Islands Radeon 6000s will be in full production as well. If you build a $2000 computer today, it'll be outdated and outpowered by a $1700-$1800 computer by January. If you can't wait, then here is what I'd recommend:

Core i7-950 - $300

ASRock X58 Extreme 3 - $180

Corsair Dominator 3x2GB DDR3 1600 - $150

Radeon HD 5970 - $600

Antec 300 case - $55

Corsair HX-750 PSU - $150

Corsair H50 Cooler - $80

Four Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB RAID 10 ($55 each, $220 total)

DVD-burner - $24

Windows 7 Home Premium x64 OEM - $100

Subtotal: $1859

Add taxes if applicable, and shipping.

It should come out roughly around $2000

The setup above assumes you have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. If you don't, then get a $440 GTX 480 instead of the $600 HD 5970 and spend the $160 towards a monitor, KB, and mouse.
