on the xbox 360 if i recover my gamer tag will i still have a gold member ship and can i play online games|||Yes I believe so.
I was at my dads house when I set up my XboxLIVE account and went to my moms where there was another Xbox. I wanted to have my game stats and everything from when I was at his house. I went on the dashboard, recovered my gamertag and sure enough I was still able to play on LIVE.
My friend does this more than once a week or so because he goes to peoples houses and recovers his and plays online so I think you should be fine if you do recover it.
