Should a game developer's PC be higher grade than an up to date gamer PC?

Long question, huh?

Well, I want to get into game development. My PC right now is about 5 years old. I suppose it's time for an upgrade. Well, I want to be able to play the games I develop but should my PC be a step up from the standard because they're in development? Should I buy everything top of the line to stay current?Should a game developer's PC be higher grade than an up to date gamer PC?Yes, simply because it makes work faster. The better your computer, the more work you can do at one time without it slowing down on you or even crashing on you.

You don't have to buy top of the line everything, especially when you're just getting started, but having a good computer is still important.

You don't need your computer to be a step up from the standard just because they're in development. Your computer will (should, if you do your job right) play your games just fine when you're done. Of course it'd be nice to have a super awesome top of the line computer, so if you have the money, go for it. But you don't NEED to have one.
